The Teaching Artist Institute (TAI) cultivates a community of teaching artists who are empowered by partnering with teachers. Together they address the diverse needs of our students through the arts and transform classrooms through joy and creativity.

TAI’s professional development programs provide artists with:
- Training in educational trends and best practices, curriculum standards, and classroom management strategies.
- Coaching from an exemplary faculty of master teaching artists.
- Opportunities to network and collaborate with other artists and teachers.
TAI is based on a collaborative teaching approach between teachers and artists.
Individual artists are matched with an appropriate teacher partner. Together, participants design and implement an artist-in-residence program that engages students in the art form, honors their creative processes, and aligns with social and emotional learning (SEL).
Through their work together, artists gain valuable teaching skills and strategies while teachers gain valuable arts elements, skills, and strategies. The residency program is field-tested and co-taught in the teacher’s home school.
